The ride along Lake Forest Blvd. is a
little nicer, safer and even healthier -
especially for those walking and biking
- now that the portion of the New
Orleans Streetscape Project that was
allocated to New Orleans East comes to
completion. The work focused
mainly on the section of Lake Forest,
from Read Blvd. to Wright Road. New
post-mounted, lantern-styled lighting
has been installed. In addition to
a walkway that winds its way down to
Wright Road, a lighted benched seating
area completes the corner at Read Blvd.
More importantly, safety has been
greatly enhanced with the installation
of a new sidewalk that extends down Lake
Forest from the new library and Joe
Brown Park. Clearly delineated and
generously widen bike paths now make
this stroll a very pleasant one - down
one of our most beautiful boulevards. |

Work Begins...
Landscaping and beautification under the
city's Streetscape initiative is
underway. Beginning with the laying of a sidewalk
on Lake Forest Blvd, from Read Blvd. to
Wright Road, the work will include new
lighting, trees, benches and a bike lane.
These beautification and safety
enhancements along this major
thoroughfare are welcomed
transformations in the community.
