 In just a matter of hours, KaBoom and a legion of volunteers once again, transformed another patch of land into a magical play-space for kids. This time it was at the Nationally-recognized Lake Forest Elementary School on Lake Forest blvd. "Build Day" kicked off early Friday with volunteers from Morgan Stanley, Lake Forest Charter and the New Orleans community. "This is what we do for our Grandchildren" said Austin Badon Sr. (top left). Dr. Candace Robinson (right) tackled the mulch pile while a team of New Orleans East REALTORS®, donning the new "Look, Think, Choose, New Orleans East t-shirts, took on the construction. Councilmemeber-at-large, Jason Williams helped rally the spirits while Imani Jackson provided logistics for the day-long set of activities. After a quick set of warm-up dancercises with the DJ the volunteers broke into teams and the work began. It was all smiles at the mid-afternoon ribbon-cutting ceremony and everyone departed knowing that they had made a significant impact on the community, and specifically, on the lives of the children who will enjoy the playground for years to come. |
