Story from: New Orleans Agenda.com

NEW ORLEANS - Jada Smith, General Manager of the local McDonald's Restaurant on Carrolton Avenue in New Orleans was presented with the prestigious Ray Kroc Award. Chosen globally from more than 36,000 restaurants, these individuals represent the top 1 percent of McDonald's restaurant managers from around the world.

Named after McDonald's Corporation founder, Ray Kroc, the award recognizes and rewards hardworking restaurant managers who deliver superior results in team performance and operational excellence. The Ray Kroc Awards were established in 1999 to celebrate exceptional manager performance at both company-owned and franchised restaurants. 2016 is the first year for Global Recognition!

This year's honor includes a magnificent crystal trophy, a diamond pin, a 4-day expense paid trip to Orlando for (2) and cash prize of $2,500 from McDonald's Corp.

In addition, local operators Terry and Lorraine Scott matched the $2,500 award as a token of their appreciation for Smith's accomplishments. Smith was presented with her award on April 13, 2016 at the Ray Kroc Award Gala held in Orlando, Florida. The event was hosted by Steve Easterbrook, McDonald's President and Chief Executive Officer during the McDonald's 2016 Worldwide Convention.

"At McDonald's, our restaurant employees are the face of our brand and a real differentiator for us," said David Fairhurst, McDonald's Executive Vice President and Chief People Officer. "This award allows us to pay tribute to our top performing restaurant managers and recognize them for delivering an outstanding restaurant experience for our customers, as well as creating a positive work environment for their staff."

What makes Jada's accomplishments even more remarkable is the fact that she has only been working with the Scott Management Team, Inc, for 3 years.

In honor of Ms. Smith's achievement, Congressman Cedric Richmond, (D-New Orleans, LA) presented her with a Certificate of Special Recognition from the United States Congress.

Ray Kroc built the McDonald's business on the belief that greatness can only be achieved through the dedication and support
of a company's people. The award was named after him based on his commitment to people and recognizing their contributions to the organization he helped establish.

The recipients of the Ray Kroc Award are nominated by McDonald's franchisees and regional management for their hard work, dedication, and commitment to the McDonald's brand. From there, a selection committee of representatives from McDonald's operations, training, and human resources teams select the award winners.

McDonald's is committed to creating employment opportunities for people of all ages and from all backgrounds, as well as boosting employability to help people gain the skills and experience they need to progress in their careers. McDonald's provides opportunities for progression and promoting from within; around 90% of restaurant management began their careers as crew members.
