New Orleans East residents, and friends from across the city, came together October 12th, to kick off the first NOLA East Bike Ride. The event was organized by New Orleans East residents, Cliff Robinson and Heidi Daniels to gauge and encourage the interest of the community in biking.

Dr. Eric Griggs, (in conjunction with Bike Easy), hosts 'EasyRides' in City Park and other parts of the city) led the group while providing health tips associated with biking. Bike Easy representative, Aneeka, provided the Rules-of-the-Road as well as general bike care information. Riders had the opportunity to register their bicycle with the NOPD. Sgt. T. Lane, of the 7th District, handled the registrations and  coordinated safety measures for the group of riders as they proceeded down Lake Forest Blvd - taking advantage of the newly created bike lanes. The quick 3.2 mile route was a great opportunity to show off the new developments in Joe W. Brown Park as well as one of New Orleans East's beautiful neighborhoods, Lake Forest Estates. Plans are to host regular rides and continue highlighting neighborhoods and businesses throughout the community. Anyone interested in biking is encouraged to join the 'Buddy List" so that you may be kept informed of upcoming rides
